RBI - Cheque / DD will be Started Expiring in 3 Months From 1st April 2012

Today is last day of Financial Year 2011-2012 , RBI has cut off expiry months of Cheque / DD from 6 months to 3 months. Now going forward from 1st April 2012, All Cheques will be expired in 3 months from issuing date of cheque. RBI has amended this rule for Cheque, Demand Draft (DD) and Pay Orders to prevent scam and misuse activity. So deposit your Cheque / DD prior 3 months in Bank otherwise it will be considered as an expired Cheque. Suppose your Cheque made on 1 st April ( 01-04-2012 ) then it will be expired after exact 3 months from issuing date ( i.e 1st April ) so expiration date or day will be 01-07-2012.
